Boca Slagbaai is a beach located on the northwest coast of Bonaire, approximately 11,5 miles northwest of the historical center of Kralendijk. Boca Slagbaai is situated in the Washington Slagbaai National Park (WSNP). To the south of Boca Slagbaai is Playa Frans and to the north is Wayaka (Wayaká or Wayaké). Boca Slagbaai is also sometimes spelled as Boka Slagbaai. "Boca" or "boka" is Papiamento and means mouth or inlet.
Boca Slagbaai is located in the Washington Slagbaai National Park.
Boca Slagbaai appears to be miraculously carved into the rugged limestone coastline that characterizes this side of the Dutch diving island. The small beach is located on the west side at the feet of the Caribbean Sea and seamlessly transitions on its east side into Saliña Slagbaai. The beach shows different faces in various places. In some parts, fine beach sand invites visitors to bask in the sun. Other areas consist of sharp fossilized coral and large pebbles that are better traversed with sturdy footwear. The beach gradually merges into the ocean.
On the edge of the beach there are several colonial buildings belonging to Landhuis Slagbaai. These ochre-yellow buildings with red-tiled roofs contrast magnificently with the yellow-colored beach sand, the azure-blue bay, and the green columnar cactuses. A feast for the eyes! Landhuis Slagbaai was once the center of two of the most important plantations of the former Netherlands Antilles: Slagbaai plantation and Washington plantation. The mansion also played a prominent role in the slaughtering, salting, and shipping of goats. It is from these activities that the mansion and the bay owe their names; "slagbaai" is a corruption of "slachtbaai," which means slaughter bay!

Boca Slagbaai is, so to speak, located in the Washington Slagbaai National Park. Be sure to inquire about the current opening hours before your visit. To gain access to the WSNP you will need what is called a Nature Fee. This Nature Fee can be purchased online on the STINAPA website.
The Caribbean Sea that surrounds Bonaire is of great beauty and entirely belongs to the Bonaire National Marine Park (BNMP). In order to cover the costs of protecting this unique underwater park, it is mandatory to purchase a Nature Fee if you intend to enter the ocean water or visit the park.
