Pekelmeer (Salt Lake)
The Pekelmeer (Dutch for Salt Lake) is located in the southwest of Bonaire. In the past, the long and shallow Pekelmeer was completely separated from the sea by a natural coral dam. Due to modern commercial salt production, there is now an open connection to the Caribbean Sea. The Pekelmeer is partially used for salt harvesting, but a protected section of the saltwater lake is reserved exclusively for Bonaire’s pride—the Caribbean flamingos.

Surreal Landscape
The salt lakes, including the Pekelmeer, are a true feast for the senses. The reflection of sunlight in the ever-changing salinity of the water creates a mesmerizing purplish glow. From personal experience we can heartily recommend this hotel. This hotel has a great all inclusive. Delicious cocktails at the bar, a barbecue on the beach or another themed dinner, we really enjoyed it. The rooms are spacious, very comfortable and the staff is super friendly.
