During our stay on Bonaire in 2024 we chose a suite at Belnem House Bonaire, a new resort that piqued our curiosity. Expectations were high, as the signs were promising. On the Expedia website, reviews from previous guests are filled with praise, earning an impressive score of 9.6! Additionally, the renowned National Geographic named the resort one of the 22 best accommodations in the world in 2024.

The Transfer

We had arranged an airport transfer through the resort, which turned out to be an excellent choice upon our arrival in Bonaire. As soon as we landed and collected our luggage we were warmly welcomed by a friendly staff member from Belnem House Bonaire. She was already waiting to take us to our accommodation. Within a few minutes we arrived at the intimate resort. From the moment we got there we felt right at home.

Warm Welcome and Friendly Staff

First impressions are often decisive and at Belnem House Bonaire they understand better than anyone how important a relaxing vacation is. Upon arrival we immediately noticed the laid-back and peaceful atmosphere. From a distance, a cheerful staff member enthusiastically waved to welcome us. The staff member who picked us up from the airport took plenty of time to familiarize us with both the resort and our suite. This personal approach made us feel like more than just a number, we truly felt like valued guests.

All the staff members are incredibly friendly, but Jonathan really stood out to us. His warm greetings and genuine interest added an extra dimension to our stay. He was always up for a chat, asked how our day had been, and often greeted us from afar with a big smile. Jonathan, who told us he has been with Belnem House Bonaire since the very beginning, is undoubtedly a valuable asset to this beautiful accommodation.

Belnem House Bonaire stands out for its intimate scale and relaxed ambiance. With only a limited number of accommodations, your stay here never feels crowded or overwhelming. Just what we were looking for: a place to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and truly unwind. The pool is a peaceful oasis, never too busy, where you’ll always find a comfortable lounge chair to enjoy your vacation undisturbed.

What did our suite look like?

Our suite was not only spotlessly clean but also stylish and modernly furnished. The comfortable king-size bed and the large wall-mounted TV made our stay even more enjoyable. Each accommodation had a convenient drying rack for swimwear and towels. Additionally we had a small kitchen with a refrigerator, a cooktop, and a microwave/oven combo. This gave us the flexibility to prepare our own meals whenever we didn't feel like eating out. It was also perfect for breakfast.

The 345 sq. ft. space provides just the right amount of room for a relaxing stay for two on the tropical island. Looking for more luxury or space? Where is Belnem House Bonaire located?

Belnem House Bonaire is situated along a main road in the Belnem neighborhood. This area is located on the southern side of the tropical island, just a few minutes' drive from Kralendijk. Within walking distance, you'll find the beautiful beaches of Bachelor's Beach (a 2-minute walk) and Donkey's Beach (a 6-minute walk). Both beaches are perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Additionally, Bachelor's Beach is a popular spot for diving enthusiasts.

Practical Comforts: A Home Away from Home

What made our stay at Belnem House Bonaire extra comfortable were the thoughtfully designed practical amenities. We could do a load of laundry now and then, which is ideal if you're staying longer or actively exploring the island. For divers and snorkelers there's a dedicated rinse basin—perfect for cleaning your gear after a day of adventure. It's these small yet well-thought-out details that show just how much attention has been given to guests' needs.

The pool is open daily from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM. The water temperature is an inviting 86 degrees Fahrenheit.

What to do in the Area?

There’s plenty to do around Belnem House Bonaire. Beach lovers will find several beautiful beaches just a short distance away. Every evening we walked to Bachelor's Beach—less than 300 feet away—to enjoy a breathtaking sunset. Donkey Beach is also within walking distance. This popular beach is a favorite among locals, who gather there on weekends for barbecues and a laid-back atmosphere.

In the evening, if you feel like dining out without driving, take a short stroll to Bloozz Resort. We enjoyed a delicious meal in a cozy setting. For a high-end dining experience, Brass Boer—the restaurant of renowned Dutch chef Jonnie Boer—is an absolute must. This culinary gem is a bit farther away but still easily reachable on foot.
